BURLINGTON, MA – March 30, 2010 – Nuance Communications, Inc. today made available the first update to MacSpeech Scribe, a leading personal transcription solution for the Macintosh computing platform.

The MacSpeech Scribe 1.0.1 update is a release which fixes reported issues. Customers of the MacSpeech Scribe family of products, including MacSpeech Scribe Medical and MacSpeech Scribe Legal, can update to the corresponding version 1.0.1 from directly within the application. MacSpeech Scribe lets people transcribe their recorded voice into written text with up to 99 percent accuracy. MacSpeech Scribe automatically creates an individual speech profile, in one of 13 different English dialects, from an initial recorded sample of a person’s voice. A single MacSpeech Scribe license can create and use up to six individual voice profiles, each compatible with all accepted audio file formats, including .wav, .aif, .aiff, .m4v, .mp4, or .m4a formats.

When composing a letter or other document by voice, users can include spoken punctuation, and MacSpeech Scribe will automatically include the punctuation marks in the transcribed text. Audio file quality directly impacts transcription accuracy achieved, and MacSpeech Scribe customers are encouraged to minimize background noise and use a high-quality recording device, such as those listed at http://www.macspeech.com/recording/.

MacSpeech Scribe requires an Intel-based Macintosh and Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
